Punch: The Affordable SUV

Contents

Tata presents Punch in a segment of micro SUVs. Tata is trying to create a new segment with this vehicle. Here I will review whether Tata succeeds in this effort. I have purchased the Tata Punch (adventure rhythms) manual petrol version in white colour and this analysis is based on the one-month use.

Tata Punch is available in a 1.2 l Revotron 3-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1199 c.c. It is available in 5 geared manual and AMT versions. I have purchased it with the gear version. It generates maximum power of 84.48 bhp@6000rpm with a maximum torque of 113nm@3300rpm +/- 100rpm. This is a BS VI-compliant vehicle.

The exterior dimension of Tata Punch is (Length*Width*Height) 3827*1742*1615 mm3 with a wheelbase of 2445mm. The interior dimensions include five doors with a boot space of 366 l. It is a proper 5 seater vehicle.

Features

Tata Punch has a 7" Infotainment Screen with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. Android auto and apple car play are the additional features of the infotainment system. It has two drive modes sport and eco modes. The unique feature of doors is, they can open at 90 degrees. In other features, it has adjustable steering, front and rear power windows, a dual trip meter, a low fuel indicator lamp, a clock, follow me home headlamps, and a rear parking sensor. In safety features, it provides two airbags for front seat passengers. In short, it has all the necessary features for a modern-day car.

My use

I use the Tata punch adventure rhythm model for more than one month. Previously, I uses Maruti Suzuki swift diesel version and when I compare it with the experience of diesel, it provides lesser pickup. I have driven the car for more than 1200 km and also on a long drive for almost 300 KM in one go.

Verdict

It is spacious enough for five people. It is one of the safest cars in its segments. It provides a better driving experience in a long run. Pickup can be an issue but overall it is a good experience. The appearance of the vehicle is stunning in comparison to others in this class. Tata boasts that it is economical when it comes to servicing. As the vehicle requires service from every 15000 KM in comparison to other vehicles which require every 10000 KM.

Overall, it is a better option when compared with other vehicles of this class. Its stunning look, better driving experience, and superb safety features make it an incredible purchase.
